Temperature Division
Our Temperature Division has a strong focus in the manufacturing and development of DwyerOmega's proprietary products for process control and measurement applications, primarily in temperature, with flow, environmental, and other process segments as well. With manufacturing sites in Swedesboro, NJ, Wolcott, IN, Middleton, WI and Michigan City, IN, the manufactured product line consists of a great variety of temperature sensor probes (RTDs, thermocouples, and thermistors), temperature sensor wire, infrared temperature sensors, temperature calibrators, connectors, thermowells, and many other items. These products support many applications globally, including commercial spaceflight, alternative energy, microprocessor manufacturing, automotive testing, food and beverage processing, and much more. Our next generation of products will include new features such as wireless communication capabilities (IIoT), improved accuracies, increased overall robustness, and market disrupting technologies that only creative, forward thinking engineers can deliver.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop new temperature products. Work closely with software, firmware, and electrical engineers in a fast paced, highly iterative agile environment to drive new product introductions and innovation
- Utilize SolidWorks CAD to design and develop mechanical components for thermocouple, RTD, thermistor, and infrared based temperature sensors and related products
- Lead, organize, and document new temperature projects from start to finish for both new market sensors and customer specific requests
- Form new ideas and designs for innovative products to be used in temperature process control and measurement applications. Perform research and create prototypes and proofs of concept for evaluation
- Work with Product Management to perform Voice of Customer surveys and interviews to validate new technology and product ideas
- Design for manufacturability and lean production assembly with a working knowledge of manufacturing methods, mechanical fits and tolerances, ANSI codes and standards
- Potential for travel to other DwyerOmega manufacturing sites to support temperature products produced there
- Formulate, run, evaluate, and document development tests such as accuracy, shock, vibration, chemical, pressure cycling, and thermal cycling. Use advanced FEA to run test simulations in CAD
- Work closely with internal machine shop and external suppliers on design reviews and optimizing the manufacturability of mechanical components
- Work with Manufacturing Engineers to develop manufacturing fixtures and transfer new products to the production floor
- Support the Quality team by studying quality defects, suggesting corrective actions, and coordinating the efforts of all departments to implement design changes.
- Work closely with purchasing staff to procure components and establish new reliable sources for parts
Skills and Experience
Required
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering; MS degree is a plus
- Minimum of 1-year experience with 3D mechanical design using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD program
- Hands-On personality with a passion for R&D
- Well versed with Microsoft Office products
- Experience in using temperature, pressure, flow, or other process sensors and calibrators
- Experience working in product development
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with lean, one-piece flow production lines
