This is an on-site role in Salisbury, North Carolina, which includes a unique work shift of Sunday - Wednesday 9:00PM - 7:00AM local time.
Essential Job Functions
General Services
- Escort DXC and non-DXC personnel, vendors, and customers within secured and data center spaces per DXC security policies.
- Provide technical oversight of activities performed during escorted activities.
- Interface with requestors via phone, email, and instant messaging using DXC tools.
- Participate in technical change reviews, incident troubleshooting, and web sessions between DXC teams and customers.
- Escalate and communicate incidents, outages, and failed changes to DXC Leadership and Site Leads.
Site Access & Security
- Review and approve data center access requests following DXC policies.
- Vet visitors according to DXC security policies.
- Interface with vendors, supplementary service providers, and Telco providers.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain and create documentation related to site-specific activities.
- Provide ad hoc reporting and track all work performed in secured spaces.
- Maintain a daily turnover log of all interactions and work completed.
Data Center Planning & Inventory Management
- Support planning for IT equipment installation and removal.
- Assist in planning space layouts for new device installations and cabling infrastructure.
- Perform site inspections for equipment assignments and removals.
- Track, inventory, and physically validate IT equipment, affixing barcode tags.
- Maintain accuracy of inventory records and perform scheduled audits.
- Manage shipping, receiving, and loading dock activities, tracking all shipments.
- Ensure compliance with DXC standards for storage and property removal.
Service Management & Incident Resolution
- Support DXC’s service management processes, including ticketing and change approvals.
- Conduct pre- and post-validation for all planned change work to ensure compliance.
- Provide root cause analysis reports for failed tasks or preventable incidents.
- Perform ITIL-related activities, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Participate in DXC planning meetings and execute required problem resolution tasks.
Hands & Eyes Support Services
- Install and remove IT equipment, including power-down and grounding activities.
- Perform troubleshooting and device validation, including serial number verification.
- Execute basic OS loads and software installations.
- Assist with disaster recovery efforts, system failures, and power interruptions.
- Perform equipment resets, relay LCD readouts, reseat cables, and verify console errors.
Cabling Services
- Install, remove, and manage patch cabling and infrastructure.
- Test, label, and document all cabling connections according to DXC standards.
- Perform cable inventory, troubleshooting, and repairs, including fiber cleaning.
- Track and document all cabling work in DXC tools and databases.
Media Administration Services
- Mount, dismount, catalog, and track media assets.
- Perform inventory management and ensure compliance with DXC policies.
- Execute media vaulting and tracking, including destruction and offsite storage.
- Use system consoles for standard tasks, including mounting and unmounting media.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Visio, and Microsoft tools.
- Strong knowledge of data center environments, infrastructure, networks, and disaster recovery.
- Familiarity with IT equipment, including servers, network switches, storage, and cabinets.
- Experience using pallet jacks, forklifts, and handling IT hardware safely.
- Knowledge of network and telecommunications protocols and platforms.
Other Qualifications
- Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment
- On-site in Salisbury, North Carolina, in an office/data center environment.
- Shift Details: Sunday through Wednesday, 9:00PM to 7:00AM local time. This shift may include shift differential pay according to federal, local, and Company guidelines.
- May require physical activity such as lifting (up to 50 pounds), moving equipment, and standing for long periods.
