About the Job
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer with over 5 years of experience in creating technical documentation for the engineering and planning industry. The successful candidate will understand engineering principles and urban planning concepts with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and accurately. This position involves collaborating with engineers, architects, project managers, planners and other stakeholders to produce high-quality, user-friendly documentation that supports project execution, compliance, and client communication. The position will also support business development in the preparation of marketing items, such as proposals and other related advertising materials for the firm.
Our projects focus upon airport planning and the development of airside, landside and terminal related projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Documentation Creation and Management:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including but not limited to engineer’s reports, project definition documents, environmental reports, planning studies and project reports.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with industry standards, client requirements, and company guidelines.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers, planners, environmentalists, project managers, and other technical experts to gather accurate information for document creation.
- Working with Marketing Department and Technical Departments in the development of proposal related materials, such as project descriptions and resumes.
- Facilitate the review and approval process of documents by collaborating with stakeholders and ensuring timely revisions and updates.
Technical Translation:
- Translate engineering and planning concepts, technical drawings and specifications into clear and concise written content.
- Ensure technical accuracy while presenting information in a suitable manner for various audiences, including clients and regulatory bodies.
Quality Control and Editing:
- Conduct thorough reviews and editing of technical documents to ensure consistency, clarity, and precision.
- Implement best practices in technical writing, including proper use of grammar, terminology, style, formatting, and referencing.
Research and Continuous Learning:
- Stay up to date with industry trends, engineering innovations, and best practices in technical writing for airport related projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technical Communication, English, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in technical writing, particularly within the engineering, planning or architectural industry.
- Proven experience with technical documentation tools and content management systems.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and other engineering drawing software is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality documents under tight deadlines.
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of engineering and planning processes, corporate marketing, construction practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong editorial skills, including grammar, punctuation, and document formatting.
- Ability to distill complex technical language into user-friendly content.
- Project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree or certifications in Technical Communication, Engineering, Urban Planning or a related field.
- Previous experience in airport related project documentation is a plus.

- The expected range is $35.00/hour - $45.00/hour.
