Works closely with the Maintenance, Processing, and Production to ensure a desired level of Sanitation.
Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes the entire production machinery used in any given workday to ensure the whole plant is kept in a clean, neat condition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides cleaning process of machinery, kettles, tanks, pumps, heat exchangers and product lines.
- Apply Manufacturing Practices as well as Good Cleaning Practices.
- Ensures production equipment is properly labeled and tagged after being cleaned.
- Ensure safe handling of the same at all times.
- Reports to Maintenance any equipment concerns.
- Knowledge and understanding of chemicals, cleanliness, and odors • Visual acuity needed for color coded equipment for cleaning and chemicals
- Mechanical ability required for break down and reassembling of all equipment during sanitation process.
- Knowledge of safe work habits to ensure proper use of safety equipment provided.
- Responsible for communicating and working well with fellow employees.
- Performs other related duties and special assignments as required.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Initiate requests for cleaning and service supplies before stock out.
- Maintain cleaning equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
- Use a forklift to move totes and pallets out of the way
- Perform other duties or special projects.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
- Ability to follow some routine, repetitive tasks.
- Ability to maintain and operate powered cleaning, service equipment, and trash compactor.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 20 lbs. frequently, performing such activities as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, pinching and grasping are possible.
- Ability to operate power equipment for material handling.
- Must pass a drug screen (cannabis excluded)
- High School Diploma or its equivalent preferred.
- Experience in sanitation procedures in a food manufacturing plant is helpful.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work in normal manufacturing environment with potential exposure to equipment movement, hazards, and dangerous chemical solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed.
- Proper personal protective equipment required.
- Dirt, temperature extremes noise, dampness.

- Obstacles, steps.
- Significant work pace/pressure
Language: Must be able to effectively communicate to management critical needs and concerns regarding the performance of Sanitors. Must be able to write and speak English.
Reasoning Ability: Thorough understanding of overall sanitation duties in order to correctly assign work duties.
Physical Demands: Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Constant climbing, bending, and reaching. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
