EHS Manager
SUMMARY
This position reports directly to the EHS Director and provides guidance and support to plant operations. This position is responsible for handling the day-to-day EHS requirements of a manufacturing facility. This position is 30% administrative and requires 70% on-the-floor presence during daily operations. This position will be primarily located out of DYMA Brands, Bremen Ga location. 20%-30% travel will be required to assist with the basic responsibilities for DYMA Brands Duluth, Ga location as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the handling and implementation of all EHS programs and policies. Conduct hazard and risk analyses. Ensure that all occupational safety and health tasks are completed as scheduled and required.
Assist in submitting regular reports on the status of safety and health to plant management. Must be able to work with management and help them understand the various roles and activities in the safety and health management system. Assist as needed with the Workers' Compensation Program. The position must have a working knowledge of state work comp regulations and be able to support HR in claim submittals. The position must be able to help assist the Corporate Safety Director in claim case management with proactive follow-up and closure.
Act as the site liaison between outside agencies including EPA/OSHA
Implement as needed and sustain all applicable EHS programs at the location to meet the safety management systems audit. Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and company policies on industrial safety and health. Follow up and assist the Corporate EHS Director to ensure all applicable environmental requirements are being upkept and met. This includes all permit requirements not limited to Wastewater or Stormwater.
Act as advisor to plant management, supervisors and other plant leadership needed. Developing Plant Safety Committees. Assist with the implementation of new safety and health management systems. Review, update, and complete PPE Assessments and SOPs
Maintain and track the accident record system, investigate accidents, and check on corrective measures that are recommended to prevent reoccurrence.
Conduct monthly supervisor safety training classes (train the trainer) as well as supervise departmental monthly safety and health training via alchemy. Initiate activities that stimulate and maintain employee interest in safety and health. Conduct safety huddle meetings weekly. Coordinate and conduct New Hire Orientation to ensure all applicable safety training is being completed by new hires.
Conduct monthly safety committee meetings with the plant safety committee and leadership
Conduct weekly plant safety observations. Make daily plant inspections to uncover unsafe work practices and conditions before they cause accidents. Assist in the management of exposure control program, hazard communication program, respiratory protection program, and hearing conservation program.
Assist the Corporate EHS Director and management team in setting standards for personal protective equipment and machine guarding. Work with the Occupational Health Department to help develop our ergonomics program.
Assist in approving designs for new and modified equipment and inspect such equipment before putting it into operation.
Other duties as assigned include traveling to other DYMA Brands locations to assist when needed.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- EPA/GEOS/OSHA/TIER II knowledge preferred
- OSHA 30 preferred
- Minimum of five years of related safety experience in manufacturing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office);
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Must be able to work in adverse conditions
- Must be able to work flexible days/hours when needed
