JOB TITLE:                         Janitor

DEPARTMENT:                 Sanitation

REPORTS TO:                    Sanitation Supervisor

SUMMARY OF JOB: Responsible for maintaining cleanliness both inside and outside of a building. Their most important duties include cleaning flooring and carpets, emptying trash, and sanitizing restrooms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for cleaning of production and warehouse areas, including bathrooms. Break rooms, lobby and outside areas.
• responsible for cleaning and disinfecting high traffic areas
• Responsible for other important needs within the production area
• Knowledge of safe work habits to ensure proper use of safety equipment provided
• Responsible for communicating and working well with fellow employees

Qualifications

QUALIFICA TIONS: Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work well with little supervision. Previous sanitation experience as well as mechanical ability desired. Must be able to work additional hours as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalency desired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to communicate to management critical needs and concerns regarding job duties.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability needed to record necessary information.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Constant climbing, bending and reaching.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Area is very wet with chemicals being used. Emptying and cleaning of trash containers required. Must able to work with a variety of chemical compounds without incurring adverse reactions. Environment can be wet and temperatures unpleasant, which at times may prove undesirable.
