JOB SUMMARY: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers who transform raw materials into quality finished products for consumer use. This includes planning, organizing, directing, implementing and controlling, within acceptable cost considerations, human safety requirements and product safety standards. Also responsible for meeting production schedules.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules, directs, trains and motivates hourly
personnel in a manner that enhances quality of
job life and efficient operations. This includes performance review and recommends disciplinary action, hiring and termination.
- Assures that all production meets established
quality levels, GMP's, and food safety guidelines.
- Manages line production operations to ensure
maximum throughput at minimum cost.
- Regular attendance on the job, dependability
and reliability are required.
- Works within established guidelines for safety,
quality and company policies and procedures.
- Maintains open and effective communications
with line personnel.
- Knowledgeable of the principle and other duties of
all departmental line personnel.
- Maintains a clean and orderly production area and
keeps aisles and emergency exits clear.
- Supervise all shift personnel after Production
Manager leaves at end of shift in prudent manner.
- Communicates with first shift Superintendent,
Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Maintenance Supv.
- Control waste of product and material
- Work with fellow associates in a cordial and
cooperative manner
- Participate in the STAR safety program
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with confidential information and data, uses
- good judgement in dispensing it.
- Be knowledgeable of employment hiring policies and
- procedures following prescribed legal guidelines.
- Interacts with facilities' managers and support
- staff.
- Is trained and certified for safe and efficient
- use of all powered equipment used for material
- handling.
- Investigates and gives written report on any
- accidents, determines cause, and safeguards
- against future similar incidents.
- Conducts safety training sessions for all departmental
- employees on a timely basis.
- Schedules and directs personnel on restricted duty
- assignments according to restrictions.
- Ensures that all plant safety and OSHA guidelines
- are adhered to.
- Use computer to obtain schedules and other information
- Verifies shift personnel time cards
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to motivate, direct and confront line personnel.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with ability
- to advise and interact positively with people.
- Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions and
- to work independently.
- Ability to gather and analyze data; exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to plan and organize work to accomplish goals.
- Ability to analyze and understand mechanical systems; learn systems and solve problems.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, exerting up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly, performing such activities as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, feeling, lifting, and grasping.
- Ability to operate forklift and other powered equipment for material handling.
- Works in normal manufacturing environment. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards and dangerous chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed.
- Works in temperature extremes, dampness.
- Proper personal protective equipment required.
