Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Physician to provide medical services to an inmate population at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Terminal Island. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
- Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for inmates
- Take medical histories, examine patients, and order/interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and x-rays
- Make diagnoses, provide treatment plans, and prescribe medications
- Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizing
- Attend to medical emergencies
- Document progress notes and recommend clinically necessary outside consultations
- Work collaboratively with staff physicians and consulting physicians in planning, instituting, evaluating, and revising program plans
Requirements:
- Certified to practice medicine
- Verification of credentials (education, current licensure/status competency, continuing medical education)
- Proof of malpractice insurance
- Ability to work with inmates from diverse cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds
- Good organizational skills, good interpersonal relationship skills, and ability to work effectively with medical staff
Work Schedule:
The contract employee will work weekdays, Monday through Friday (excluding Federal Holidays), eight sessions per day. A session is defined as one hour. The contract employee will normally work 6:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., with a thirty-minute unpaid lunch break. However, the hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution.
Supplies:
All supplies that the contractor may routinely need shall be provided by the Health Service Department, at FCI Terminal Island.
Scope of Services:
All duties shall be performed in accordance with the standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Physician Services and be compliant with all Federal and State policies and regulations.
