IT – Database Developer

Position Summary: Database Developer
Dynalec Corporation is seeking an individual to join the 3-person IT team as a database developer. This is a full-time in-person position with limited to no travel required. The main job responsibilities are to maintain, design, develop, and document custom enterprise resource planning (ERP) business applications for ~ 100 employee users; write and run database queries; help the system administrator with daily help desk calls as needed; and be a contributing member of the IT team for IT, networking, and cybersecurity decisions. The custom ERP system is well-established and based on Visual FoxPro. Replacement solutions for this system are being considered and the new hire would be a critical member of the team working on the migration to a new database management system - including analysis and selection of the front-end and back-end solutions, user interface design, prototype development, and final implementation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain and develop custom enterprise resource planning applications using Visual FoxPro
- Write and execute SQL database queries
- Assist computer users with daily help desk calls
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a programmer, preferably in database development
- Strong programming skills with the ability to learn new languages quickly
- Detail-oriented; quick-learner; hard-working; ability to quickly gather information, analyze, and solve problems; continuous learner
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work well with employees from all departments and ability to write formal business process documents
- User-interface design experience a plus
- Preferred experience with Visual FoxPro, C/C , C#/.NET, SQL, web-application development
- Experience with active directory, group policy, networking, cybersecurity, and other IT functions a plus
- Experience with version control software (e.g. SVN) a plus
- Experience with government IT security requirements a plus including DFARS 252.204-7012, FIPS 200, NIST SP 800-171
