Job Description:
As a Medical Assistant in our clinic, you will be an essential member of our sports medicine and regenerative orthopaedics team, responsible for both clinical and front desk duties. Your role will involve providing direct patient care, supporting our physician and/or our physician assistant, and managing various administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the clinic. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a multi-faceted role and is passionate about non-surgical sports medicine and regenerative orthopaedics.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties-
- Room patients and intake patient medical histories
- Prepare patients for orthopedic evaluations and treatments
- Assist with and perform Shockwave and EMTT treatments
- Assist with patient examinations and procedures, including bracing and heat moldable casting
- Prepare therapeutic injections and assist with procedures (PRP, BMA, MFAT)
- Assist in managing an injury screen email designed for patients to receive prompt medical care
- Communicate with physical therapists and primary care physicians regarding patients’ condition(s), treatments and protocols
- Communicate with outside facilities for referrals and scheduling imaging
Administrative Duties -
- Warmly greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the front desk operations
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate staff members
- Check-in patients, verify insurance information, and collect payments as needed
- Coordinate patient flow and ensure timely patient care
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area
- Assist in stocking rooms with supplies as needed
- Keep patient charts and records meticulously updated
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and scanning documents
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and address patient needs promptly
- Adhere to clinic policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
Qualifications:
Education & Certification -
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) or EMT preferred
Experience -
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in an orthopedic or similar medical setting, but not required.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and scribing a plus
Skills -
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and orthopedic procedures and terminology
- Experience with Shockwave and EMTT and Orthobiologics a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy clinic environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
