GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Accounts Receivable Manager will oversee the billing, collection, and reconciliation of customer accounts, ensuring timely and accurate cash flow, and minimizing bad debts. The Accounts Receivable Manager also supervises and trains the AR staff, maintains and updates the AR policies and procedures, and liaises with internal and external customers. This position reports to the Controller.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage the daily operations of the AR department including invoicing, cash application, credit control, and dispute resolution.
- Review aging reports, identifying and resolving any issues or discrepancies.
- Develop and provide accurate and timely financial reporting to management.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the AR processes, systems, and controls.
- Supervise, coach, and develop the AR staff.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and internal staff to effectively resolve any escalated issues or inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with the company's policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, and maintain proper documentation and records.
SOFT SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience. At least five years of experience in accounts receivable, two in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, especially related to accounts receivable and revenue recognition.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills. Experience mentoring, coaching and maintaining accountability.
- Proactive, organized, and process driven with strong planning, communication and analytical skills. Ability to assess risk and escalate issues appropriately.
- Skilled with the analysis of reports, validation of information and interpretation of data.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality, and ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks. Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Proficient in accounting software, Microsoft Office, and data analysis tools. NetSuite experience preferred.
- Experience with customer portals such as Amazon and Walmart preferred.
