The Infrastructure Administrator will assist the Technical Director and CIO to maintain the network and systems infrastructure. The position requires collaborative work within a team of on-site technical resources and centralized network and system administrators to ensure IT services are functioning effectively. This position also requires the ability to assist in PC management and maintenance as needed. The Infrastructure Administrator position reports to the Technical Director. The position is located on-site at our partner institution, Charleston Southern University, in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Hours may vary.
Responsibilities:
- Work within a team of technical staff to maintain the network and systems infrastructure.
- Follow directions and guidance in the configuration and upgrading of switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Ensure systems and applications are effective, reliable and meet the service delivery needs of all programs.
- Provide uptodate system documentation and inventories, including configuration files and network maps.
- Collaborate with the systems administrator team to ensure systems and data are properly backed up, responding and resolving alerts as necessary.
- Assist with the maintenance of WAN and Internet connections and coordinate with local service companies.
- Work with and configure internal and external monitoring systems to ensure alerts are being generated for service outages.
- Monitor alerts from security software and service providers.
- Work closely with the Systems Admin Team to ensure network security and manage network wide security including all connecting devices. This includes managing security policies, procedures and reviews.
- Maintain detailed network documentation.
- Assists with the implementation of Changes (especially those that involve project task work) approved by the CAB (Change Advisory Board).
- Coordinate and communicate closely with management and help desk during all unplanned outages. When necessary, work in concert with software and hardware vendors for problem resolution.
- Assist with computer maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associates degree in Information Technologies or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
- At least 2 years of experience in systems/network administration and PC maintenance.
- Display strong customer service and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of technical troubleshooting methodology.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
- Demonstrated excellence in teamwork as well as excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Orientation to detail and thorough documentation.
- Ability to work with a range of technical staff to develop joint solutions.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. as need to move equipment across the campus environment.
- Must be able to sit for long periods at a time and or stand for long periods at a time.
- Must be able to crawl under tables and or desks for wiring and cabling need.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Higher Education Environment.
- Experience managing SonicWall Firewalls, Brocade switching, Aruba Wireless, and ClearPass Network Access Controller.
- Experience with VXRail or VMWare virtualized environments.
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
