Students here have access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years. The program helps them to complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, provides transitional support services, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps graduates either enter the workforce or an apprenticeship, go on to higher education, or join the military.
Position Description
Summary
Responsible for instruction of Information Technology (IT) in varied facets of the Career Preparation Period (CPP) and Career Development Period (CDP).
Essential Functions
Provides instruction on information technology. Responsible for planning, managing, and implementing the Information Technology (IT) requirements of the Regional and National offices.Monitors student progress; posts information to student profile sheet in the CIS.Controls use of materials and equipment.Participate in student evaluations.Make recommendations for policy and curriculum revision.Keeps records and prepares reports as required.Assists in the planning and scheduling of courses.Measures the progress of students through observation and the administration of oral and written tests.Makes recommendations concerning future studies and training needs.May tutor students or arrange for tutoring provided by volunteers.Maintains up-to-date skills in the field of specialty through available sources such as publications, formal study programs, and in-service training.May instruct enrichment classes.Determines appropriate use of software for students and prioritizes purchase recommendations.Responsible for the network subscription for students’ use and monitors the use.May be designated as the center’s back-up LAN administrator or the CIS point-of-contact.Assists in the routine hardware repair of the center’s computers. A computer maintenance agreement will be generated by an outside vendor for complicated computer hardware repair and maintenance.Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center.Acts as a responsible custodian for assigned center property.Reports violations of ethical behaviorSuggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and a reduction of waste.Identifies and reports on environmental health and safety concerns.Ability to accurately record attendance daily, and update E-TAR (Electronic Training Assessment Record) on a weekly basis.Provides sound classroom management while keeping students actively engaged during the training day.Performs other duties as assigned.Able to maintain a 75% or higher on employee scorecard.Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Required Education & Experience
Associate’s degree in computer scienceTwo years of computer experience (both software and hardware experience)Knowledge of a networking system comparable to the CIS or other management information systemExperience working with youth in an instructional setting preferred.Must have experience developing and delivering both virtual and live training sessions that include practical application and competency testing methodology.Certifications / Competencies

Strong listening and problem-solving skills and exceptional oral and written communication.Project management skillsWriting and editing skillsTeam skillsAttention to detail.Personal initiative and ability to work independently.Physical Demands / Work Environment : Physical requirements include carrying / lifting to 5 pounds, frequently; up to 10 pounds, regularly; and up to 25 pounds, occasionally. Visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to drive an automobile and operate computer keyboard and basic office equipment; subject to carrying, lifting, twisting, and reaching to perform essential job functions. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to other locations.
