Job Description
The Environmental Development Specialist is responsible for providing accurate notes and descriptions of all field activities while reporting to their respective supervisor daily. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting environmental site evaluations, testing, and inspection services;
- Assisting with the completion of site investigation activities such as soil borings and/or test pit excavations;
- Completing soil, ground water, and air sampling and investigations;
- Pickup and drop-off samples to laboratories;
- Oversight of earthwork activities;
- Conducting post-excavating samples and test pit oversight;
- Completing project data analysis and report writing;
- Developing standard operating procedures for equipment under the direction of a senior engineer;
- Maintaining instruments in calibrated condition, collecting and reporting data to the manager, managing lab supply/inventory, and assisting in preparation of reports/presentations;
The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in Environmental Science, Geology or a related field, and 0-2 years of experience in Environmental engineering.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology or a related field;
- 0-2 years of experience in Environmental engineering;
- A valid driver's license, personal insurance, and a personal vehicle for travel to various sites;
- Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicles;
- Hands-on experience with metric and English tools;
- 40 Hours OSHA training preferred;
- American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Phase I site assessment experience and knowledge of New Jersey state regulations and guidelines;
- Field survey experience a plus;
- Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals;
- Proficient in the use of available mapping websites for due diligence and site investigation purposes;
- Proficient in Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Independent and critical thinking abilities;
- A self-starter who can work independently and with team members, and present themselves professionally and confidently on construction sites and in an office environment.
Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
