Electrical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

DGCD, Inc. of Fort Collins, Colorado is seeking an experienced electrical design engineer with excellent design skills to develop schematics and manage PCB layout designs for new product development. DGCD is a product development company specialized in electronic design services. We have a very collaborative team of designers and are seeking a person to fit into the team, provide independent and high-quality design work, support development through prototyping and testing, and engage in effective customer interactions. A list of responsibilities for this exciting position includes the following:

• Work as part of a cross-functional engineering team to develop new electronic products.
• Develop schematics for new products with a wide variety of technologies including microcontrollers, digital and analog circuitry, power design, wireless technologies, and more.
• Select components and develop product BOMs.
• Work individually and as part of a team to develop new schematic designs of varied electronic products.
• Engage thoughtfully and collaboratively in design reviews incorporating team feedback to provide highest-quality designs.
• Work with internal PCB Layout designers to develop PCB layout designs.
• Map out component placement on PCBs to fit product and technical needs and manage the PCB development.
• Develop PCB stackup and design rules for the various design technologies.
• Work with internal partners to effectively prepare new designs for manufacturing.
• Support and collaborate with multiple external partners and vendors to get PCBAs prototyped and delivered.
• Work collaboratively with firmware developers to support the product code development.
• Turn-on, test, and debug designs.
• Excitement working in varied technologies and products, including but not limited to, high-speed digital, power, analog, consumer electronics, industrial products, aerospace, medical and more.
• Investigate customer concepts and architect solutions, provide value added engineering expertise.
• Develop new product specifications in collaboration with external customers.
• Assist customers with the transition from prototype to volume manufacturing.
• Engage customers with confidence, friendliness, and a collaborative attitude as a regular part of the job

Qualifications

To be considered for this exciting electrical design engineering position at DGCD, the candidate will need to meet the following minimum qualifications:

• Resident of Colorado and a U.S. citizen.
• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years electronics industry experience including circuit design work.
• Demonstrated ability to do circuit design.
• Ability to manage PCB layout designs based on developed circuits.
• Good communication skills and a strong ability to engage positively with customers
• Highly motivated and flexible designer who takes joy in designing and problem solving.
• Willing to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and fluid environment and as part of a smaller local company.
• Keen sense of duty, a desire to accomplish assigned tasks, and the ability to persist through tough problems to find solutions to difficult problems
• Friendly and team-oriented working attitude including design collaboration, involvement in design reviews, ability to accept constructive criticism, and maintenance of a productive work environment
• Knowledge of embedded SW and a willingness to work alongside FW engineers

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with Cadence and/or Altium design tool sets.
• Experience with PCB layout design.
• Experience developing FW.
• Experience developing with FPGAs.
