Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and experienced Private Duty Nurse to provide one-on-one care for a 3-year-old male patient with complex medical needs. The patient requires specialized care, including G-tube feeding, management of a central venous line for Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), weekly dressing changes, and lab draws. The Private Duty Nurse will work closely with the family and healthcare team to ensure the child’s safety, comfort, and well-being.
ResponsibilitiesClinical Care:
- G-Tube Management:
- Administer G-tube feedings as prescribed.
- Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the G-tube.
- Central Venous Line Care:
- Prepare and administer daily TPN as prescribed.
- Perform weekly sterile dressing changes on the central venous line.
- Conduct routine site assessments to monitor for signs of infection or complications.
- Lab Draws and Reporting:
- Perform weekly blood draws via the central venous line.
- Prepare samples for lab analysis and ensure timely submission.
Monitoring and Assessment:
- Continuously monitor the patient for changes in condition, including vital signs and overall health.
- Identify and promptly address any complications related to G-tube, TPN, or central venous line.
Care Coordination:
- Communicate effectively with the patient’s healthcare providers, including physicians, dietitians, Therapies and case managers, to ensure optimal care.
- Educate and support the patient’s family on care routines, emergency protocols, and equipment use.
Documentation:
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of the patient’s care, including feeding schedules, TPN administration, dressing changes, lab draws, and any incidents or observations.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies, including line dislodgement, infection, or adverse reactions to TPN.
- Maintain and regularly check emergency supplies and medications as required.
Qualifications:
- Current and unencumbered RN or LPN license in Texas/ Compact.
- Minimum of 1 year of pediatric nursing experience, preferably in home health or private duty.
- Experience with G-tube feeding, central venous line care, and TPN administration is required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to the patient’s needs and family dynamic.
Work Environment:
- The position requires providing care in the patient’s home.
- Must be comfortable working in a family-centered environment.
- Occasional lifting, bending, or repositioning of the patient may be necessary.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $35.00 - $37.00 per hour
