Detailed Description Of The Physician's Assistants Requirements
- The contractor shall provide emergency/urgent care physician services to evaluate and treat eligible patients who present themselves to the Emergency Department. The contractor shall furnish services to include but not limited to the following:
- Responsibilities:
- Obtain and review patient medical histories, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and compile patient data.
- Diagnose patient injuries or illnesses, order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., x-rays, blood tests), and develop and manage treatment plans.
- Perform or assist with a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including laceration repair, wound care, cast and splint application, abscess incision and drainage, and procedural sedation.
- Prescribe medications and other therapies, and monitor patient responses.
- Educate and counsel patients and their families on treatment plans, self-care, and preventative health measures.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including progress notes and discharge summaries.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
- May be involved in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), trauma care, and other specialized emergency procedures.
- Work under the supervision of a licensed physician, but with considerable autonomy in clinical decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including progress notes and discharge summaries.
- 3-10 Years of Experience
- P.A. License
- CEPA (not required if 5 years' experience)
- DEA
- NPI
- AHA BLS
- AHA ACLS
- Experience working for a federal or public agency.
