Survey Research Lead
Location: USA, $100,000 - $128,000 | Full-Time | Remote or $50,000 - $64,000 | Part-Time | Remote

We are seeking a Survey Research Lead with expertise in leading the design and development of survey instruments, preferably at the national level. The ideal candidate brings strong client-collaboration and relationship building skills and depth and breadth of knowledge in survey methods, human-centered design (HCD), and human-computer interaction (HCI) methodologies.

Essential Duties
- Lead the design and testing of survey instruments, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with research objectives.
- Conduct traditional testing of survey constructs and items, including question wording, response formats, and supporting materials.
- Facilitate focus groups and cognitive interviews to evaluate survey instruments and refine items based on participant feedback.
- Apply human-centered design (HCD) principles and human-computer interaction (HCI) methodologies to develop intuitive and user-friendly surveys.
- Oversee the formatting and layout of survey responses, ensuring consistency and accessibility across multiple formats and languages.
- Manage translation processes and methodologies to ensure culturally appropriate survey adaptations.
- Develop and implement robust testing protocols for survey instruments, including response reliability and validity assessments.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to align survey design and testing practices with project goals and requirements.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- 6 years of survey research experience (academic experience consider toward total years of experience)
- Masters degree or higher in Survey Methodology, Data Science, Psychology, Social Sciences or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- In-depth knowledge of instrument/item design and survey testing techniques.
- Proven experience in testing survey questions, constructs, and materials using focus groups and cognitive interviews.
- Expertise in human-centered design and human-computer interaction methodologies.
- Strong understanding of survey layout formats, translations, and testing procedures.
- Proficiency in statistical software and tools for survey data analysis.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a focus on collaborative teamwork.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Experience working on large-scale, national survey projects.
- Familiarity with mixed-mode survey administration and data collection.
- Knowledge of advanced translation techniques and cross-cultural survey adaptation.
- Certification or formal training in survey methodology or HCI.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor teams throughout the survey design and testing process.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and mentoring junior staff.
- Knowledge of survey-related regulatory and compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Experience supporting customer service/customer experience research

Physical Requirements
