Job Description
2nd / 3rd shift MIG WELDERS - Weld/Fabricate various parts/metals. Maintain quality and safety standards; keep records; maintain equipment and supplies.
At Least 5 years of mig weld experience, grinding, material handling and crane operations
Principal Responsibilities:
Read and understand blueprints and AWS welding symbols
Join thin metals of varying compositions by operating specialized hand and power tools
Operate tools such as arc welders, grinders, and buffing machines
Responsible for selecting and installing torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to the thickness of metal materials
Visually inspect welds to ensure conformance to specification requirements
Obtain And Maintain Company Required Weld Certifications
Operate assigned machinery during welding downtime
Plan, understand, and interpret drawings, specifications, material and operating instructions before and while running operations and equipment
Produce and inspect parts against drawings specifications within time allotted; ensuring product meets specified quality standards
Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and fixtures/gauges to check work to drawings
Verify initial product quality checks and complete all processing operations
Update related paperwork (work orders and in-process inspection sheets) upon completion of tasks
Ability to stand and operate machinery throughout the duration of shift, except for scheduled breaks
Ability to lift required objects with or without assistance, turn, load/unload required objects
Demonstrate safe work habits
Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner
Maintain current, overall, and job specific trainings and requirements
Assist in other departments as needed
Other duties as assigned
Safe Practice Guidelines / Required Personal Protective Equipment:
Safety glasses with side shields as required
Steel toed/metatarsal safety shoes as required
Gloves as required
Earplugs as required
Welding hood, jacket, face shield, and/or gloves as required
Fire Retardant (FR) clothing as required
N-95 mask or respirator as required
Seat belts required on all forklifts
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Detail oriented
Manage time with little to no supervision, self-motivated
Ability to read blueprints, basic math, metallurgy, and a basic understanding of electricity
AS9100 Quality compliance, understanding, and commitment
Weld Certification (company specific and provided)
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
Minimum three (3) years of experience or career technical training
