Description
Dynamis is seeking a Paralegal - FOIA Specialist who will be responsible for providing FOIA support services to the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). The Paralegal - FOIA Specialist will be responsible for processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) / Privacy Act (PA) requests for records throughout the entire life-cycle in accordance with the provisions of the FOIA and PA.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent analysis and apply FOIA and PA exemptions and/or exclusions as appropriate.
- Review FOIA/PA requests to obtain associated responsive documents located within OFAC divisions a. When required, reconcile divergent office/agency responses b. Review responsive records in accordance with 5 USC 552, 5 USC 552a, the Treasury’s implementing regulations/instructions and applicable laws
- Redact documents in accordance with the provisions applicable instructions and policy
- Make appropriate annotations to records
- Process cases through the submitter notice process
- Review submitter objections and make initial recommendations regarding objections to the government program manager
- Review objections, prepare correspondence and submit for review
- Prepare for Litigation
- Submit cases for inspection/review by government authority
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required
- The FOIA specialist should have experience applying experienced in the application of all of the exemptions but must have demonstrated experience in 4 and 7.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years of work experience
- Computer skills required: MS Office Suite skills
- Proven analytical background
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment and relate well to others
