Fitter Position

Job Responsibilities

• Lay out, fit and tack parts together per print
• Job sizes vary and will include large projects
• Utilize the necessary tools to complete the job, including but not limited to, overhead crane, hilo, jacks, pry bars, hammers, saws, welding equipment, files and grinders to fit the parts.
• Need to be proficient in weld call outs.

Job Skill Requirements

• Must have at least 3 years of fitting experience
• Proficiency in basic mathematics required
• Proficiency in reading a tape measure required (metric and English_ basic fraction to decimal conversion)
• Must have experience fitting large frames
• Ability to read blueprints and understand weld symbols and tolerancing in relation to required material and weld joint preparation
• Understanding of raw material color codes
• Ability to recognize when required welds may become inaccessible after completion and pre-weld
• Ability to utilize Model Based Data when physical blueprints are unavailable (Company will train)
• Strong understanding of the appropriate use of bracing when necessary to control distortion
• Familiarity with welding equipment and workshop safety protocols
• Must be a US Citizen, per contract requirements
• Must be punctual and reliable
