The Maintenance Mechanic (Tradesman-Welder/Electrician) is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, repair, and maintenance of industrial machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure. This role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing welding and fabrication work, and ensuring all systems operate safely and efficiently.
Job Description
- Properly operates and maintains all plant utility infrastructure, including steam boilers, colling towers, chilled water units, air compressor, nitrogen generators/tanks, etc.
- Initiates plant start-up/shutdown by starting/shutting down equipment as directed by supervisor.
- Performs a wide variety of complex mechanical, electrical and civil work related to the design, fabrication, installation, repair, preventive maintenance, operation, inspection and testing of various equipment including, but not limited to mechanical, electrical, electronic and analogue components.
- Diagnose mechanical and structural problems, determines how to correct them and completes repairs, including but not limited to; welding, pipefitting, mechanical drive repair, seal replacement, pump repair, etc.
- Works on electrical and mechanical controls, control wiring, instruments, meters and related test equipment.
- Works from electrical prints, diagrams, work orders, electrical code books, drawings, sketches and schematics, P&IDs and written and verbal instructions.
- Performs maintenance on reactors, tanks, milling equipment, homogenizers, agitators, pumps and other equipment as directed by supervisor. Required to work comfortably in confined spaces.
- Works on elevated platforms such as ladders, scaffolds and lift truck cages.
- Operates and maintains waste-water treatment plant and equipment. Identifies and corrects problems with associated equipment and repairs as necessary.
- Operates lift trucks and other power equipment as needed.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- (Mechanic/Welder) Minimum 3 years, in an industrial maintenance environment as a mechanic. 3–5 years Welding and pipefitting experience required and may require testing.
- (Electrician) Minimum 3 years, experience (Electrician) in industrial electrical systems required; Licensed/Certified electrician a plus.
- Working knowledge of all basic systems in industrial environments required, with experience in a chemical processing and hazardous materials environment a plus.
- Able to operate general maintenance equipment including but not limited to; grinders, drill press, rope and chain fall, heating torches, Pipe threader, hydraulic press and other related maintenance equipment.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
