Position Description
The Mechanical Engineer in this position will be responsible for a wide gamut of mechanical engineering tasks including vehicle design, payload integration, structural modifications, mechanism design, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and be able to work well both on an individual basis and in a team environment. The candidate must be able to function and communicate in an interdisciplinary team (Aero, Electrical, Software, etc.). The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer.

Salary: $140k - $190k
Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.

Position Description
The Mechanical Engineer in this position will be responsible for a wide gamut of mechanical engineering tasks including vehicle design, payload integration, structural modifications, mechanism design, and analysis. The candidate must be able to function and communicate in an interdisciplinary team (Aero, Electrical, Software, etc.). The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer.

Required Skills/ Qualifications
- Experience in small to medium size teams in an advanced development environment
- Hands on experience with mechanical assemblies
- Ability to communicate effectively with technicians and shop leads
- Document designs and analyses with written reports, presentations, and Engineering drawings
- Characterize, analyze, test, and troubleshoot mechanical systems.
- Interface effectively with management, and other engineering personnel
- Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Possess strong verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to create and follow standard processes and clearly document results
- Knowledge of aircraft structures and mechanical systems
- Mechanical design using CAD software (SolidWorks Preferred)
- Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Experience with structural analysis software
- Proficient with first principal sizing methods of multi-disciplinary aircraft systems
- Fabrication or machine shop experience
- Working knowledge of basic aircraft aerodynamics and performance
- Experience in designing robotic and aircraft systems
- Military and/or UAV experience is a plus
- AIAA Design Build Fly (DBF) experience a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. Strong listening, questioning, clarifying and summarizing skills to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings
- A willingness to travel on occasion
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years professional experience as Mechanical Engineer
