JOB TITLE: Business Analyst
E-470 OVERVIEW: E-470 Public Highway Authority is a dynamic public agency managing the 47-mile toll facility on the eastern perimeter of the Denver Metro area. E-470 serves its customers as well as provides back-office tolling services for all other toll facilities in the State of Colorado. E-470 strives to provide top-notch customer service, improve safety, and save time for our drivers while being Colorado’s one-stop-shop for tolling services.
JOB FUNCTION: The Business Analyst plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and software development. This position collaborates closely with Project Managers and Product Owners to gather, analyze, and document business requirements, translating them into clear and actionable functional specifications for the development team. The Business Analyst will ensure alignment between project goals, product vision, and the resulting software solution, driving successful project delivery and product evolution.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
• Requirements Gathering & Analysis:
o Conduct thorough requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders, including Project Managers, Product Owners, Development Tech Leads, subject matter experts, and end-users.
o Analyze business processes, workflows, and data to identify areas for improvement and translate them into functional requirements.
o Elicit, document, and validate business rules, user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Requirements Documentation & Management:
o Maintain a requirements traceability matrix to ensure that all requirements are linked to design, development, and testing.
o Utilize requirements management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet) to track and manage requirements.
• Collaboration & Communication:
o Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and the development team.
o Facilitate communication and collaboration among project team members.
o Present requirements and specifications to stakeholders and development teams.
o Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Project & Product Support:
o Work closely with Project Managers to ensure requirements are aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget. o Assist in user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure that the delivered software meets the defined requirements.
o Help to define and document the business rules that the software must adhere to.
• Process Improvement:
o Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
o Contribute to the development of best practices for requirements gathering and analysis.
QUALIFCATIONS: • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in a software development environment. • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall). • Experience with requirements gathering and documentation techniques (e.g., user stories, use cases, process flows). • Experience with workflow/diagramming tools (e.g. Visio, Miro, Draw, Lucidchart) • Proficiency in using requirements management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Project Management tools). • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. • Experience working with product owners and project managers. • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements. • Understanding of business rules definition and implementation.
PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS: • Smartsheet experience a plus, not required • Relevant certifications (e.g., CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA). • Experience with data analysis and reporting. • Experience with API documentation.
EDUCATION • A bachelor’s degree in IT, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is required. JOB TYPE: FULL-TIME •
Pay Range: $105,000-$130,000
