About the Role
We are seeking a Financial Analyst / Cost Accountant II to support cost accounting, financial analysis, and reporting in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for material cost analysis, quoting, variance reporting, and financial forecasting to aid strategic decision-making.
Depending on experience and qualifications, this position may be upgraded to Senior Financial Analyst / Cost Accountant.
Key ResponsibilitiesCost Analysis & Financial Reporting
- Analyze raw materials, labor, and overhead costs to support financial planning and decision-making.
- Compare actual manufacturing costs against budgeted standards and generate variance reports.
- Maintain and enhance cost accounting systems and databases to ensure accurate expenditure tracking.
- Conduct cost audits and prepare detailed financial reports.
- Assess financial impacts of product design, raw material, and manufacturing process changes.
Quoting & Pricing Strategy
- Estimate costs for new and proposed products, including pricing strategies for large projects.
- Develop and maintain cost/pricing quotations and conduct post-project financial analysis.
- Provide management with data-driven insights on pricing, profitability, and cost efficiency.
Inventory Valuation & Reconciliation
- Assist in inventory valuation, reconciliation, and financial reporting, including:
- Work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods valuation.
- Estimation and analysis of excess and obsolete inventory.
- Monthly reconciliation of perpetual inventory and general ledger balances.
- Support month-end financial close, focusing on inventory-related entries.
Performance Tracking & Standardization
- Develop standardized financial reporting systems and cost-tracking tools.
- Generate monthly performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to establish and maintain cost standards.
- Regularly review pricing models and recommend adjustments to optimize profitability.
- Forecast future costs to support strategic pricing and budgeting.
Collaboration & Travel
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and leadership, on cost analysis and pricing strategies.
- Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities may be required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of cost accounting principles.
- Experience with cost accounting systems and financial reporting tools preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions such as logical, lookup, and math functions), Outlook, and Word.
- Familiarity with Workwise ERP is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop cost strategies.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
