Job Title: Financial Analyst / Cost Accountant II

Position Overview
We are looking for a Financial Analyst / Cost Accountant II to assist with cost accounting, financial reporting, and data analysis in a manufacturing setting. This role involves analyzing material costs, identifying variances, forecasting financial outcomes, and supporting pricing strategies. Based on experience, this position may evolve into a Senior Financial Analyst / Cost Accountant role.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Analysis & Financial Reporting
- Analyze costs associated with raw materials, labor, and overhead to support financial planning.
- Compare actual expenses to budgeted or standard costs, identify variances, and report discrepancies.
- Maintain and enhance cost accounting systems and support audit processes.
- Evaluate the financial impact of changes in product design, material usage, and process improvements.
Quoting & Pricing Strategy
- Estimate costs for new or proposed products to assist in developing pricing strategies.
- Create and update cost quotations for major projects and provide post-project financial analysis.
- Generate detailed reports for management, offering insights into pricing structures, profitability, and cost efficiency.
Inventory Valuation & Month-End Close
- Assist in inventory valuation and reconciliation to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Track work-in-progress (WIP) and evaluate finished goods inventory valuation.
- Manage excess and obsolete inventory to help control costs.
- Support month-end closing activities, with a focus on inventory-related financial transactions.
Financial Performance & Forecasting
- Create standardized financial reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Prepare monthly performance reports to identify trends and recommend operational improvements.
- Perform cost forecasting to support strategic planning and budgeting.
Collaboration & Travel
- Work closely with engineering, production, and leadership teams to refine and optimize cost strategies.
- Travel to manufacturing locations as needed to support financial and operational initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- At least four years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a solid understanding of cost accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions), Outlook, and Word.
- Experience with cost accounting software; familiarity with Workwise ERP is a plus.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams to streamline financial processes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
