What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receiving Inspector position at e-Business International Incorporated?
Quality Requirements:
- Must learn and follow all quality requirements in accordance with Smith policy standards. Responsible for the monitoring, qualification, and training of employees which also includes API and ASME, or any other applicable standards, procedures, and work instructions.
General Requirements:

- Bilingual abilities in Spanish preferred, but not required.
- Ability to recognize and evaluate weld discontinuities, areas of improvement, and other weaknesses in all products.
- Ability to perform tests and measurements on products and should be able to read drawings. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. Above all must be a team player with a high level of dedication.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand/walk up to 90% of the workday; sit to perform normal office duties for up to 50% of the workday, occasional bending, squatting, ascending ladders/stairways.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follows all Safety policies and procedures, and immediately notifies supervisor or other manager if Safety protocols cannot be met. Wears all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) per company policies or contractor requirements. Reports all incidents and accidents regardless of severity to supervisor immediately. Understands that he/she has stop-work authority if work cannot or is not being done safely. Please remember that all incidents and accidents can be prevented with proper job planning and hazard recognition (JSA)
- Inspects incoming materials by first performing a visual inspection of materials, components, and products received from suppliers and vendors.
- Verifies accompanying documentation such as packing slips.
- Counts all material to verify that the number of each product delivered matches the accompanying documentation.
- Identifies any deliveries where there are non-conformities between packing slips and number of items delivered.
- Communicates any supplier issues to relevant departments, such as purchasing, production, and quality assurance to facilitate timely decision-making and corrective actions.
- Marks all materials delivered by adhering stickers and color coding for ease of finding and using at a later time and so that no further labeling is required.
- After all materials have been color coded and labeled, the Inspector then releases them to the Warehouse.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance receiving inspection processes, efficiency, and effectiveness, and contributes to overall quality improvement efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
