SR. CIVIL (ENGINEERING) DESIGNER
This role is responsible for producing efficient and feasible grading & drainage designs, stormwater management (SWM) designs, and erosion control (E&S) designs; preparing complete, accurate, print-ready plans, reports, and calculations related to SWM and E&S that require only minimal drafting QAQC by the CAD Department.
Proficiencies
- Prepare Preliminary Grading Plans & Stormwater Management Due Diligence Summaries per published company standards.
- Evaluate conceptual layout plans prepared by the CAD Department for opportunities to further minimize regulatory burden and reduce construction costs/timing without sacrificing project objectives and communicating these to the Project Manager.
- Establish overall grading and SWM design strategy and prepare plans that best balance permitting requirements, project objectives, budgetary constraints, and ease of construction/maintenance.
- Prepare Scope of Work documents for infiltration testing (as needed) to direct Geotech consultants.
- Prepare E&S design calculations/plans/details/reports.
- Prepare SWM/PCSM design calculations (i.e. basin sizing, hydrology models, storm pipe sizing, etc.).
- Compile SWM/PCSM Reports & appendices using company templates.
- Prepare thoughtful utility designs that are coordinated with the rest of the plan set and the work of other disciplines (i.e. MEP, Architecture)
- Identify and document (on the plans and the applications) all necessary waivers and variances related to stormwater management, grading, and drainage; prepare draft justifications for review and approval by the Project Manager.
- Adhere to published company standards for CAD-generated deliverables related to SWM and E&S design, and take ownership of final output of Grading Plans, Drainage Plans, Erosion Control Plans, PCSM plans, and associated profiles, details, and notes sheets.
- Perform earthwork calculations.
- Coordinate preparation of road and utility profile plans by the CAD Department, providing direction, constructive feedback, and training where necessary.
- Prepare accurate, complete conservation district/DEP application paperwork that is consistent with the plans and reports.
- Compile submission materials for SWM review agency submissions.
- Assess agency review letters and prepare draft responses to comments pertaining to stormwater management, grading, drainage, or erosion control.
- Coordinate outreach to agency review staff with Project Manager for comments related to stormwater management, grading, drainage, or erosion control.
- Assist Project Manager in establishing scope-of-work and hour budgets in association with kick-off meetings.
- Perform occasional peer reviews of project engineering deliverables for other design teams when scheduled.
- Prepare flood studies and associated analyses for necessary state and federal permitting.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
