Role: Electrical Estimator
Location: : Petersburg, VA
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Summary
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This role involves analyzing project drawings and specifications, soliciting supplier and subcontractor pricing, and working closely with project managers and engineers to develop comprehensive bids.
Qualifications & Requirements
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering optional, Construction Management or related field (preferred). Equivalent work experience will be considered.
· Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably in industrial applications.
· Technical Skills:
o Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and standards (NEC, NFPA, etc.).
o Proficiency in estimating software such as Accubid and Bluebeam.
o Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Project).
· Essential Skills:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
o Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
Key Responsibilities
· Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine electrical scope and cost estimates.
· Attend scheduled site bid review meetings as needed and documenting site visit information in the form of meeting minutes.
· Perform material take-offs and labor calculations for electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems.
· Obtain and analyze supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
· Develop detailed cost estimates, budgets, and proposals for electrical projects.
· Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure accuracy and feasibility of estimates.
· Identify potential project risks and provide value engineering options to improve project efficiency.
· Assist in negotiating contracts and scope of work with clients and vendors.
· Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare bids and proposals efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in estimating large-scale electrical projects ($1 million).
· Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and electrical design software.
· Familiarity with project management processes and construction scheduling.
