Department: Seconds and Surplus

Reports To: Store Manager and Assistant Manager

General Description: We are seeking a motivated Sales Associate to join our growing team. This is an inside sales position that leverages strong customer service skills and industry knowledge to deliver the best customer experience. As a Sales Associate, you will engage with new and returning customers to guide them in their purchase decisions and ensure they receive the product that best fits their needs. Strong communication skills, people skills, and product knowledge will be key to meeting and exceeding sales targets. We provide a paid training period of up to 60 days, which concludes once you feel confident in independently assisting customers and making sales.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions include the following, other activities may be assigned:

  • Proactively engage customers to assist in selecting merchandise: Ask detailed questions and actively listen to understand customer preferences and needs, guiding them towards suitable products.
  • Deliver exceptional customer satisfaction: Consistently strive to exceed customer expectations by promptly resolving issues and complaints, ensuring every customer leaves satisfied with their experience.
  • Demonstrate timely follow-up and commitment: Responsibly handle customer requests and commitments with efficiency and professionalism, ensuring all inquiries are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Adapt to changing business needs: Exhibit flexibility and adaptability in responding to evolving business priorities and customer demands, contributing to a dynamic and responsive sales environment.
  • Foster a positive team environment: Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive work atmosphere by offering support, sharing knowledge, and actively participating in team initiatives.
  • Operate point of sale systems proficiently: Utilize point of sale software and hardware accurately and efficiently to process transactions, manage inventory, and provide seamless customer service.
  • Maintain store presentation standards: Uphold store appearance to enhance the shopping experience, including restocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are consistently met.
  • Flexible availability: Demonstrate a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, to accommodate peak business hours and ensure optimal customer service.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
