What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pipe Layer position at E.C. Pace Company, Inc.?
E. C. Pace Company, Inc. an established utility contractor in Roanoke, Virginia, is searching for a self-motivated individual looking for opportunities to grow with our team. We are looking to hire a Pipe Layer with experience installing and testing water, sewer, and/or storm pipe. Familiarity with pipe lasers, grading pipe bedding, and working in deep trenches is a plus.
Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Installing water, sewer, and storm pipe of various materials (ductile, plastic, concrete)
- Setting a pipe laser to a specified grade and ensuring pipe is installed correctly to the laser target
- Grading dirt and stone within a trench to a specified depth
- Belling pipe joints together, including cutting and beveling pipe or tightening mechanical fittings
- Hand digging to expose existing utilities
- Testing installed pipe to utility owner specifications
