What are the responsibilities and job description for the Blanchard Grinding Machine operator position at E.C. Styberg Engineering Company?
As a Blanchard Grinding Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating a rotary wheel to grind flat or irregular surfaces to a close tolerance to impart a required finish.
Responsibilities include:
- Use a magnetic table and chucks or clamps to position and secure the workpiece on the table of the machine
- Arrange and properly secure multiple-piece setups
- Selects and sets speeds; makes operating adjustments to calibrate machine adjusting devices to obtain tolerances and finish requirements
- Inspect parts to ensure product specifications are met utilizing a variety of measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, scales, etc.
- Proceeds with minimum supervision and direction on the more standardized work, receiving instructions and guidance on new or special work; work is subject to process and final inspection and check
Qualifications:
- We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 6 months of previous machine operation experience, preferably in CNC lathes/mills, Laser welders/cutters, hobbers/shapers, etc.
- Knowledge of machines, including setting up and changeover of tooling
- The position requires excellent math skills and the ability to read, interpret, and follow a variety of blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
- Ability to take precise measurements utilizing a variety of inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, and a variety of gauges/tools
- Ability to work 10 hours in a physically active and challenging environment that includes but is not limited to; walking, standing, lifting, twisting, turning, pushing, pulling
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Key Information:
- potential to earn multi-machine premiums and piece-rate on top of your hourly rate of pay. rate (41-48 hours earns time and a half, 49 double time)
- Train on 1st shift – 5 AM – 3 PM (Monday – Friday) & 5 AM – 10 AM on Saturdays – will move to 2nd shift after 90 days 3 PM - 1 AM (Monday - Friday) and a mid-shift on Saturday 10 AM - 3 PM
- Working mandatory 55-hour work weeks
