Since 1927, E.C. Styberg Engineering has been a mainstay company in Racine, Wisconsin as a contract manufacturer of medium to heavy gauge metal components. The company started in a garage with two tool makers and has grown over the years to a 175,000 sq. ft facility with 150 employees. Styberg’s’ facility includes a wide range of processes – metalworking equipment, including heavy metal stamping, heat-treating, precision machining, welding, grinding, and deburring with the quality department assuring compliance to all the requirements.
As the Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising, coordinating and directing employees in the activities essential in the operations of the quality assurance department, that is necessary to produce customer finished products. Responsible for day-to-day direction for the quality assurance department, including floor inspectors and bench work inspectors. The position will lead to improvement initiatives, such as cost reductions, inventory controls, and other needs of operations. They will also support, assign resources, and have a broad knowledge of quality assurance methods.
Responsible for:
- Organize and assign duties to employees; expedite job orders to maintain efficient flow and consistency with quality assurance standards.
- Provide instructions, training and guidance and maintain supervision over inspection setup procedures, inspectors and inspection operations.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate essential final operations to prepare products for inspection and shipping.
- Analyze and diagnose machine malfunctions, problems, and delays.
- Schedule time studies for the purpose of setting, correcting, and maintaining acceptable standards.
- Coordinate procedures that prevent excessive downtime and interrupted schedules.
- Ensure inspection and quality assurance procedures are done.
- Regulate use of safety devices and equipment, general housekeeping, and maintain a constant alert for hazardous conditions and practices.
- Maintain an efficient work force in line with skill requirements and work schedules.
- Coordinate efforts with various department supervisors to ensure efficient production operations.
- Assign duties to and direct the activities of hourly employees.
- Administer contract provisions and company polices, issue disciplinary warnings, and disciplinary measures.
- Maintain record of vacations and attendance of quality assurance department employees.
Requirements:
- AS degree in Quality or equivalent.
- 5 years of Quality Assurance experience or equivalent.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- 2 years of Experience with performance management of employees in a Leadership/Supervisory role
- Create, document, and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing standards.
- This position requires a considerable amount of standing and walking in the plant, and may be exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
- Noise level in the plant may be loud, although this position does have an office where the noise level is more moderate.
- Speaking and hearing ability are necessary for communication with fellow co-workers and customers.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and interruptions.
- Strong verbal and written communication as well as strong reasoning and problem-solving skills.
