he EHS Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of all applicable environmental compliance, health, and safety programs for the facility. The Coffee Point Plant, known as Coffee Point Seafoods, operates May through the beginning of August. This position reports to the Plant Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversees all facility environmental, health, and safety compliance programs
· Works with the corporate EHS Department to implement and maintain existing written programs, inspection forms, training curricula, policies and practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (AKOSH, ADEC, EPA, DOT)
· Conducts site-specific training in areas of environmental compliance and industrial safety and health
· Provides site permit and other regulatory data to Corporate EHS for agency reports and submittals
· Performs daily, weekly, monthly and annual environmental compliance and safety tasks
· Audits the facility and identifies deficiencies and areas for improvement, and follows through to verify abatement
· Assists with worker’s compensation claims and reduction and loss control initiatives
· Other duties as assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
· EHS and Alaska seafood industry experience preferred
· College degree preferred
· Working knowledge of, or ability to learn, environmental and safety regulations that apply to seafood production in Alaska, such as water quality, storm water, solid and hazardous waste management, anhydrous ammonia as a refrigerant (PSM/RMP)
· Willing and able to do this work, with or without reasonable accommodation:
o Ability to read, comprehend, and articulate in layman’s terms the meaning of regulations to adult learners
o Influential, collaborative, professional demeanor with effective oral and written communication skills
o Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
o Ability and willingness to live seasonally in Alaska and work in a seafood processing plant. Conditions may include working in inclement weather and in a cold/wet working environment with inherent hazards such as moving machinery, wet floors, noise, forklift traffic, etc.
o Ability to work long hours, seven days a week during the production seasons

Salary & Benefits:
The starting wage is $20.00 to $23.00 per hour.
THE WORK ENVIRONMENT is weather dependent: ranging from warm and sunny to cold, windy and wet. Working outdoors in a remote environment is not an experience for everyone, and candidates should understand their limitations. People who struggle with mobility should consider employment in another department or a different industry.
NATURE & HOURS OF WORK: The season runs from May to August. Expect to work 7 days a week 12-16 hours per day.
LIVING CONDITIONS: Our seafood processing facilities are a very remote part in Alaska. Housing – will have own room but shared bathroom facility. There are no health care options readily accessible. There is no cellphone signal and limited internet available. Communication is very limited.
