Job Overview:
E.J. Basler Co. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented 2nd shift CNC Lathe Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. In this role, you’ll operate and set up CNC lathe machines to produce high-quality parts according to exact specifications. Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC lathes efficiently and safely to meet production goals
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job instructions
Perform quality inspections using manual and electronic measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, bore gauges)
Adjust machine settings and replace tooling to maintain proper dimensions and tolerances
Record all part inspections, tool changes, and production data accurately
Troubleshoot minor machining issues and escalate complex problems to maintenance or supervisors
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work areas
Replenish machine fluids and keep work areas organized using 5S principles
Follow all safety policies, procedures, and company guidelines
Support and assist fellow team members and perform other duties as assigned
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 2 years of CNC lathe machine operating and setup experience
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and technical documentation
Basic G-code understanding and ability to make program offsets
Familiarity with cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling concepts
Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Good shop math skills, including decimals and fractions
Strong communication skills and team collaboration mindset
Physical Demands:
Lift 20–50 lbs occasionally; 10–25 lbs frequently
Frequent use of hands and arms for precise machine operations
Ability to focus on close-range work and distinguish colors and fine details
Occasional standing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the shift
Work Environment:
Loud manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, oils, coolants, and industrial fumes
Use of company-provided PPE (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, ear protection) required at all times
