Gallo’s Sales Leadership Development Program (SLDP) gives you the opportunity to experience a world-renowned, accelerated program designed to build a thorough foundation on consumer goods sales and sales management. You’ll be well prepared and on your way towards a career that can span sales, fine wine, distributor management, and beyond. The key to finding career success at Gallo is a three-phased program, allowing your development to be unique to you.
Phase I- Distributor Sales Representative
Our SLDP participants begin their training as Sales Representatives. As a Sales Representative, you will:
Manage a sales territory ranging from 18-30 chain retail accounts (grocery and drug stores)
Continue to build upon pre-existing relationships with these accounts by selling face-to-face
Creatively merchandise Gallo’s portfolio on store floors
Gain valuable exposure to the total sales process
Receive extensive sales and wine training
Work alongside sales leadership
Have access to state of the art mobile sales technology
Phase II- District Sales Manager
As you progress to the next tier of the SLDP, you’ll have the chance to change your scope from learning the art of sales, to learning how to achieve sales through others. You will have the opportunity to showcase your leadership skills and lead a team of 5-7 Sales Representatives. During this phase, you will:
Train, educate, and motivate the members of your team
Develop and practice skills such as strategic thinking, critical problem-solving, forecasting, and sales strategy
Understand the scope of the business from a higher level
Phase III- Multiple Sales Opportunities
Tier three of the program offers a world of opportunity and you are free to explore a variety of unique career paths in the sales channel. Each opportunity gives SLDP participants the chance to utilize their leadership skills to develop a better understanding of sales through the organization. Some opportunities include:
Area Sales Manager
Sales Recruiting
Customer Development
On-Premise Sales (bars and restaurants)
Spirits Portfolio Manager
Your specific timeline for Phases I, II, and III will depend on your own growth, development, and merit in preparation for the next assignment.
