The Behavior Technician collaborates closely with the teacher to support educational instruction for students with behavioral disabilities. Therapeutic assistance is offered through skills reinforcement and pre-academic/academic training, following the teacher's lesson plans, the social worker and school psychologist's treatment plans, the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), and the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
This 10-month full-time role will report to the campus's Assistant Director of Student Support Services. The salary range for this role is $43,926 - $89,082.

You Will
- Assist teachers with providing therapeutic and instructional support for students with emotional and behavioral disorders;
- Implement Behavior Intervention Plan;
- Utilize behavior strategies defined in the Behavior Intervention Plan;
- Assist teachers with collecting behavioral data and implementing behavior support strategies;
- Maintain appropriate documentation, records, and reports;
- Administer behavior inventories and checklists to support the development of student behavior intervention plans;
- Maintain a caseload of students with identified emotional and behavioral needs;
- Consult and collaborate with the Assistant Director of Student Support Services and the BCBA, if applicable;
- Attend IEP meetings as needed and provide input in developing behavior intervention plans for students needing behavior support services;
- Create a positive and supportive classroom culture and environment that puts relationships with students first;
- Engage parents and families in their student's academic success;
- Ensure services and supports comply with Washington, D.C., and federal laws and regulations; and
- Be an active member of the school community, attending and participating in school events outside of regular school hours and completing other duties as assigned
You Have:
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Familiarity and experience with special education students in the District of Columbia.
- Demonstrated experience, comfort, and success in building a positive and supportive classroom culture;
- Used models and exemplars to drive instruction;
- Strong collaboration skills to ensure student success.
- An associate degree or having earned at least 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university is preferred;
- A Washington, D.C. teaching certification;
- A strong background in differentiated and individualized instruction;
- Experience in hands-on learning, such as experiential learning or project-based learning;
- Proficiency in another language; and
- A master's degree in education or your subject area.
