E&M Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Technical Writer to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO in support of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). NORAD is a United States and Canada bi-national organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning for North America. Aerospace warning includes the detection, validation, and warning of attack against North America whether by aircraft, missiles, or space vehicles, through mutual support arrangements with other commands.
The Technical Writer works with engineering staff to produce a variety of documents in support of the contract. Working with engineering personnel, the technical writer is a key contributor in ensuring high-quality documents are produced and delivered to the customer. The Technical Writer reviews and edits engineering documents, provides recommendations for clarity and logical flow of information being presented for optimal reader comprehension, and ensures the documents conform to style guides and contractual governance. In addition, the Technical Writer creates templates to help streamline document development and ensures the templates adhere to engineering leadership directives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create templates in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to support more expedient and higher quality future deliveries
- Ensure templates remain updated with the latest guidance from engineering leadership and properly formatted
- Review and edit documents written by engineering staff to ensure the information is conveyed clearly and concisely, and ensure conformance with appropriate standards and style guide
- Support engineering staff by helping to drive documents through the review process
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have at least 4 years of relevant experience directly related to technical writing/editing
- 5 or more years of general work experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of tools - specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Experience producing and editing documents to ensure compliance with standards and style guides
- Possess strong skills in document development, editing, structure, and logic flow for technical and non-technical audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must have and be capable of maintaining a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance at the required level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiar with DoD publications
- Experience with Microsoft tools SharePoint and Visio
- 5 years of relevant experience directly related to technical writing and/or editing
- Familiar with DoD Data Item Descriptions
