JOB ROLE AND PURPOSE
As the Allergy Medical Assistant for our clinic(s), you will play a pivotal role in delivering assistance to the physicians and the practice, both clinically and administratively, performing various tasks as directed and providing initial patient inquiry and contact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interview patients and document basic medical history.
- Answer phone calls and schedule appointments.
- Update and file medical records and insurance reports.
- Arrange laboratory services.
- Check with patients and type up patient’s chants.
- Take and record patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Assist healthcare providers with examinations and procedures.
- Ensure that all quality measures for MEPS are entered In patient’s health records.
- Handle receivable copays and balance due.
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
- Give allergy shots.
- Mix allergy serums.
- Assisting MD/NP/PA with allergy testing
- Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts
- Ensures computer programs are locked when leaving patient rooms, nurse’s station, and shut down all computer at the end of the day
- Follows protocol for each doctor, being aware of individual preferences.
- Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks, and sterilizes instruments
- Cleans rooms and removes instruments/exam items after each patient, setting up tray to physician preference.
- Washes instruments and empties exam room, changes and removes solutions, cleans equipment including MTI carts once per week, removes trash cans at the end of the day
- Ensures there are enough clean instruments in the exam rooms for physician use.
- Autoclaves instruments as necessary.
- Performs scribe duties when the physician examines the patient, and records all data as dictated by the physician in the exam room
- Assists with Pharmaceutical Rep. Visits and is responsible for maintaining and stocking drug samples.
- Assists the physician with pharmacy and patient calls for refills
- Keep a log of all allergy serums, reviewing expirations, issuing orders as needed, and tracking correlating patient data
- Keeps work area clean, neat, and safe as required by OSHA, and free of food and any moisture.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with privacy and security regulations.
- Performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation
- Comprehends and adheres to all rules, regulations, and procedures of the Practice Compliance Program, including OIG Program, HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and any other state, local, or federally mandated regulations that affect a physician’s office
OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
- Maintain a clean and organized practice area ensuring that it reflects a professional and welcoming atmosphere.
- Perform administrative functions, including data entry, filing, and record keeping.
- Maintain spreadsheets to track data, input data in trackers in a timely manner.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements.
- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2 years minimum as a medical assistant preferably in allergy clinic
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred

- Ability to lift 30-50 pounds, push and pull 75 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment
