JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW
JOB ROLE AND PURPOSE
The CDS specializes in ENT, Allergy, Audiology and related specialties services and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of health information related to ENT, Allergy, Audiology and related specialties services. This role involves auditing medical records, reviewing ICD 10 and CPT coding for accuracy, and documentation practices to support quality patient care and regulatory compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct regular audits of ENT medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Review and validate coding for ENT procedures and diagnoses, ensuring compliance with ICD-10, CPT, and other relevant coding standards.

Identify discrepancies and provide feedback to healthcare providers to improve documentation practices.

Identifies opportunities to support achievement of 100% compliance in clinical documentation.

Collaborate with ENT specialists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely documentation.

Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to the Director of Compliance and other stakeholders.

Stay updated with changes in coding standards, regulations, and best practices related to ENT services.

Assist in training and educating staff in proper documentation and coding practices.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

Assist at the Practice level and Revenue Cycle Management team to support the appeal process of denied claims.

Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Associate Degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or a related field. Or Associate Degree in Nursing.

Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Medical Record Auditor (CRMA) certification preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in HIM auditing, reviewing clinical documentation with a focus on ENT, Allergy, Audiology and related specialties services.

Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and other relevant coding standards.

Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in health information systems and electronic health records (EHR).
