We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Construction Helper to support utility construction projects. The ideal candidate will assist with underground conduit installation, trench work, and electrical substation construction while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow general construction safety guidelines and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Work safely around open trenches and assist with trench-related tasks.
- Install underground conduit and ground wire according to specifications.
- Backfill and compact trenches using shovels and dirt-packing equipment.
- Spot and assist operators working with forklifts, digging equipment, cranes, and other heavy machinery.
- Work with taglines to assist in setting steel structures.
· Assist with the installation of electrical substation steel and equipment.
- Read and interpret tape measurements accurately for construction tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site.
Requirements:
- Must be able to speak and understand English.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
- OSHA 10 certification (minimum requirement).
- Ability to work safely in and around open trenches and heavy equipment.
- Physically capable of performing manual labor in outdoor environments.
- Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 30 certification (preferred but not required).
- Previous experience in utility construction, electrical work, or related fields.
- Familiarity with trenching, conduit installation, and backfilling.
- Knowledge of operating small tools and compacting equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
