- Position Description: E.R. Snell Contractor is looking for a Bituminous Material Lab Technician.
- Train and supervise junior staff or laboratory assistants
This position requires a blend of technical skills, analytical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail. Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of polymer chemistry, material properties, and testing methodologies.
Polymer Tester Responsibilities & Duties
Conduct mechanical, thermal, and chemical tests on polymer materials
Analyze test data to evaluate the suitability of polymer materials for specific applications
Prepare detailed reports documenting test procedures, results, and recommendations
Calibrate and maintain testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
Develop and implement standard operating procedures for polymer testing
Collaborate with product development teams to improve material performance
Identify defects and inconsistencies in polymer samples and suggest corrective actions
Stay updated with advancements in polymer testing methodologies and technologies
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Position Requirements: What we are looking for:
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently
Ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of experience.
Excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.
Strong math and average computer skills are required
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to interact with individuals at any level of the organization (i.e. plant production personnel, plant managers, contractors, and agency representatives)
Ability to problem-solve and work independently
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field preferred
Certifications - Superpave level one and two from GDOT
Experience with polymer testing instruments such as DSC, TGA, and FTIR
Knowledge of various polymer characterization techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in testing and reporting
Experience working in a laboratory setting
Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in data analysis software and tools
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field
Proven experience in polymer testing or a related field
Familiarity with polymer testing methodologies and instruments
Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Effective communication and reporting skills
Knowledge of safety protocols in a laboratory environment
Ability to interpret and analyze complex data accurately
Proficiency with computer applications relevant to the role
