The Cigar Specialist will be responsible for managing and expanding the cigar market within our wholesale business. With widespread knowledge of cigars, the Cigar Specialist will oversee purchasing decisions (with management approval), communicate with vendors, and drive marketing and branding efforts. The role includes promoting cigars to existing and new clients, building strong relationships, and ensuring product availability in chain accounts. The position requires frequent travel (up to 50%) to reach out to clients, with the potential for both local and national outreach. Cold calling, negotiation, and sourcing discounts will be key components of this role. The Cigar Specialist must be flexible, personable, and self-driven, with the ability to balance office and travel duties successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Management: Oversee and handle the cigar market, including purchasing cigars with approval from the management team. Ensure that inventory aligns with customer needs and market trends.
  • Vendor Relationships: Engage with cigar vendors, negotiate pricing, explore new product offerings, and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
  • Marketing and Branding: Collaborate with the marketing team to create effective campaigns for cigar promotion. Drive branding initiatives to increase visibility and consumer interest.
  • Sales and Promotion: Actively promote and sell cigars to both current and potential clients, focusing on building long-term relationships and customer loyalty.
  • Client and Account Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and chain accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction, repeat business, consistent product availability, and sales growth.
  • Discount Sourcing: Identify and pursue opportunities for discounts or favorable terms to maximize profitability and maintain competitive pricing.
  • Cold Calling and Lead Generation: Identify potential clients, cold call, and establish relationships with new accounts. Promote products, negotiate terms, and close sales.
  • Travel: Travel up to 50% of the time to visit clients, attend industry events, and engage with partners. The position requires the use of a personal vehicle, with travel expenses reimbursed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma required; Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of cigars, including types, brands, and industry trends.
  • Strong sales experience, including cold calling, negotiating, and closing deals.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills.
  • Experience in working with vendors and negotiating pricing.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to travel, with the use of a personal vehicle.
  • Previous experience in wholesaling or a similar industry preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle insurance required for travel.
