What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drayage Dispatcher position at E-Transport Carriers?
Description:
- Schedule containers for pickup and delivery.
- Check truck drivers in and out of the yard while assigning loads in order of importance.
- Administer and process paperwork for drivers.
- Input data into a yard management system.
- Communicate with customers to arrange shipments to be picked up and delivered.
- Alter routes daily as dictated by customer requests and shipment arrangements.
- Solve problems with the port and shipping lines if drivers have trouble retrieving containers.
- Communicate with dock personnel about the live loading and unloading for OTR trucks.
- Coordinate and manage the most efficient loads to remain cost-effective.
- Monitor drivers' productivity and motivate them to be efficient.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Outlook, Excel and Teams
- Experience with GPS monitoring programs.
- Knowledge and experience with trucking dispatch.
- Ability to communicate efficiently with drivers and team members.
- Familiarity with terminal websites.
- Prior trucking experience.
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
