POSITION SUMMARY
The Estimator is responsible for overseeing the preparation of complex cost estimates and project bids. This role requires extensive experience, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to manage high-value projects and mentor team members.
YOUR ROLE
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates, including analyzing project plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Oversee and manage the centralized cost estimating database to ensure consistency and accuracy in project estimates.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve discrepancies in project plans or specifications in collaboration with engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with project-specific contract requirements, including DBE and EEO clauses.
- Supervise the preparation of quantity take-offs and verify accuracy for bidding purposes.
- Drive the project handoff process by ensuring seamless communication between the Estimating and Project Management teams.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and updated certifications like SCTRCA.
- Represent the company at pre-bid conferences, project meetings, and bid openings.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to Estimator I and II team members, fostering growth and development.
- Continuously evaluate estimating processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Handle complex or high-value bids, ensuring timely and competitive submissions.
- Perform other duties as required to support company goals.
WHAT YOU BRING
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Estimator role is primarily office-based, requiring prolonged periods of sitting, using a computer, and working with standard office equipment. Occasional site visits may involve standing, walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The role may also require lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
