Description:
E2PM is seeking a qualified applicant for a CAD Designer to assist the Residential Development sector within the Rockaway office with responsibilities that align with environmental, civil, and site engineering design needs. This position plays a critical role in site/civil engineering design, stormwater management plans, subdivision/variance planning, septic system layouts, lot grading plans, and construction documentation. The CAD Designer will work closely with engineers, project managers, surveyors, and regulatory agencies to prepare precise and compliant design drawings that support residential site development projects such as new home construction, building additions, and other property improvements.
Typical Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide direct CAD support to the Residential Development Sector Manager, assisting in the technical oversight of projects and ensuring deliverables meet client specifications, regulatory requirements, and engineering standards.
- Work closely with in-house Project Managers, Engineers, and Senior-Level CAD Designers to ensure practicality and accuracy of designs to meet project objectives and timelines.
- Develop and modify site plans, grading plans, and utility layouts for residential development projects in compliance with NJ state and local regulations.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed 2D or 3D designs for complex projects, including site maps, engineering plans, and construction details.
- Prepare CAD drawings for stormwater management systems, erosion control, and land development, ensuring compliance with NJDEP and local municipal requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of environmental impact plans, wetland delineation maps, and flood hazard area assessments for residential sites.
- Process and integrate land survey data into CAD models for boundary mapping and topographic site plans, ensuring accuracy for development planning.
- Interpret information from recorded maps, land grants, deeds, and other legal documents to support land development planning.
- Create base maps using GIS and survey data for municipal and state permitting applications, including NJDEP Land Use Permits.
- Prepare CAD exhibits for site plan approvals, zoning board submissions, and NJDOT permit applications.
- Perform drafting and permitting assignments to support regulatory approvals and project execution.
- Collaborate with engineers and other professionals on design concepts, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Ensure that all drawings and designs adhere to project specifications, guidelines, and regulatory standards from agencies such as NJDEP, NJDOT, and local planning boards.
- Use design software to revise, update, and correct drawings as necessary, incorporating field data and stakeholder feedback.
- Generate reports, maps, diagrams, and exhibits using CAD software and related printing/plotting equipment.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to the team in the use of CAD software, ensuring efficiency and best practices.
- Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and other customer documentation as requested by project managers or engineers.
- Conduct quality checks on drawings to maintain accuracy, clarity, and consistency in deliverables.
- Stay up to date on the latest design software and technology to enhance project efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage CAD file organization and maintain drawing standards to ensure consistency across multiple projects.
- Assist in the implementation of GIS or other design tools to enhance project deliverables and improve workflow efficiency.
Requirements (education, licensing, certifications, etc.):
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field (Preferred).
- 3-5 years of related designer/drafter experience within the A/E/C industry, primarily in NJ and NY.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (Required); experience with HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, AutoTurn, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Strong technical design capabilities, including mathematics, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to review and revise designs for accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to work effectively within project budgets and schedules.
- Capabilities to work with reference files and ensure document version control.
- Experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines without extensive supervision or instruction.
