What are the responsibilities and job description for the Energy Compliance Inspector position at E3 Building Sciences?
JOB SUMMARY:
E3 Building Sciences is currently looking for individuals to join our team. The Energy Compliance Inspector is responsible for performing quality assurance verifications for both HVAC and house wrap/stucco installations on single family new construction homes. The work includes, but is not limited to, verification of the following aspects of a home: HVAC System Airflow, Building Air Leakage, Duct Leakage, Fan Efficacy, Hot Water System Distribution, HVAC Equipment Efficiency Rating, Quality Insulation Installation & Air Infiltration Sealing, Whole House Fan Measurement, and Refrigerant Charge. Additionally, the Energy Inspector is responsible for documenting observed conditions and processing assessment reports. This is a field-based position requiring travel within a designated area.
Prospective applicants must have keen attention to detail, be able to read blueprints and construction documents, understand construction methods and best practices, work independently, work on multiple projects concurrently, and produce accurate results while meeting deadlines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works directly with E3 Building Sciences' home office to complete home inspections as determined by the projects’ scope of work
- Complete field inspections and collect data and photo documentation on assigned projects to document scope of work compliance, which may include compliance with building codes, voluntary programs, and quality construction practices
- Work with builders and their trade subcontractors to help identify issues found during field inspections as well as communicate solutions efficiently.
- Must complete all ENERGY STAR inspections per RESNET and ENERGY STAR
- Communicate project status, updates, and changes to E3's home office efficiently.
- Meet applicable code/ISO/certification compliance requirements
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Coordinate with clients, and other stakeholders
· Attends continuing education sessions required to maintain certifications
· Monitor, review, and respond to all communication in a timely manner
· Maintains and protects all company equipment and supplies
· Perform other related duties as assigned

- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Current RESNET HERS Rater or Rating Field Inspector (RFI) Certification (required)
- Current ENERGY STAR Rater Certification and/or ENERGY STAR Multifamily Rater Certification (preferred not required)
- Previous experience as HERS Rater, Energy Auditor, HVAC installation or HVAC service technician is preferred (preferred not required)
- A valid driver’s license; clean driving record
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $125.00 - $500.00 per day
