SUMMARY
The Director of Disaster Response will plan, direct, and coordinate emergency management and disaster recovery efforts, ensuring the development and facilitation of the proposal process for specific clients/customers, including budget and pricing development, contract negotiations, and client presentations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the organization’s disaster response division.
- Leads disaster recovery operations for floods, hurricanes, wildfires, and other disasters.
- Collaborates with the President and Board of Directors to set performance standards. Standards may be based on budgetary and operational goals and required compliance with internal, local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ensures disaster recovery projects are completed on-time, within budget and with a high standard of customer satisfaction.
- Supports emergency response logistics and assists with disaster assessments and response plans.
- Reviews operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability.
- Uses knowledge of services to communicate and promote services to clients/customers.
- Identifies and pursues new leads in disaster recovery and emergency response.
- Markets disaster recovery program management services to businesses in the disaster recovery space and federal government clients.
- Collaborates with other Regional Managers, the President, and Board of Directors to set reasonable sales, advertising, marketing, and growth campaigns and/or productivity goals.
- Leads outreach efforts with federal, government, and business stakeholders to enhance recovery outcomes.
- Implements and communicates the strategic direction of the company as established by the Board of Directors.
- Oversees implementation of new processes and systems to improve and streamline regional processes and use of resources and materials in collaboration with the COO.
- Develops and implements effective emergency operation plans, providing technical assistance to regional jurisdictions, and collaborating with various department agencies to coordinate emergency response efforts.
- Maintains and develops positive relationships with existing and prospective clients, demonstrating excellent customer service and setting an example for other staff.
- Ensures departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision.
- Responsible for managing resource tracking.
- Preforms other related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate or master’s degree in emergency management, public safety, public administration, or related filed preferred
- Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credential preferred
- At least 8-10 years’ industry-related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated project/program leadership and management experience in disaster setting
- Experience in disaster recovery efforts and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments
- Experience coordinating major phases of emergency management such as planning, response, recovery and mitigation
- Understanding of US emergency management and coordination systems
- Knowledge of emergency management principals, practices, and operations
- Experience with federal contracts
- Understanding of business principles and practices
- Proficiency in emergency management software tools
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Highly technical work with the possibility of extremely prolonged periods working in extreme temperatures and high-stress situations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 pounds. The employee will be exposed to extreme seasonal temperatures, both very hot and very cold. The employee will be exposed to contaminants, hazardous conditions, and hazardous equipment. The employee will be exposed to whole body vibration and sounds, with noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable at times. The employee will be exposed to cramped workspace, awkward positions, and sometimes very confined spaces. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position with 24/7 responsibilities. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
