Position Summary
Orders and maintains par levels for inventory in the Surgical Services Department.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities Includes The Following
Understands and adheres to the Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
Conducts inventory counts, orders, and restocks items on a daily basis
Maintains inventory levels based on current usage and par levels set by the Surgical Services Materials & Business Manager (SSMBM)
Works closely with the SSMBM and Nursing to ensure adequate levels of supplies are always available on the shelves
Reviews the Operating Room, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Endoscopy department procedure schedules on a daily basis and ensures product availability
Places requisitions for supply orders through Meditech
Restocks shelves on a first in, first out basis and ensures product is kept neat, organized, and easily accessible
Works with the Purchasing Department to confirm orders and product availability
Proactively checks for product backorders, communicates and provides updates to the SSMBM and Nursing
Serve as specific and dedicated Service Line Liaisons- works closely with the Operating Room Service Line Leaders for service updates, inventory concerns, and product backorders
Perform and assist in the Surgical Services annual inventory count
Accepts and documents shipments of human donated tissue in accordance with White Plains Hospital, the New York Department of Health, and the Joint Commission standards
Maintains a clean and safe environment for all staff members and patients
Attends mandatory monthly staff meetings and in-services as appropriate
Completes annual department and hospital competency requirements and documents appropriately on White Plains Hospital's Competency/Education Record
Adheres to all WPH policies and procedures including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance and submission of annual occupational health requirements
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
High School Diploma required
Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred
2-4 Years Experience In a Health Care Setting Preferred
Previous Materials Management experience preferred
Basic or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel required.
Knowledge of Meditech system preferred

Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
Must be able to lift, push and pull heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), stand, sit, bend, stoop and walk for extended periods of time in order to perform the outlined job duties properly and safely
Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously
Must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure and with interruptions while meeting deadlines
