EAD Engineering is looking for a Staff Controls Engineer that will act as a subject matter expert for simple to complex projects for EAD's key clients. This individual shall be able to work both independently and in a team environment. This engineer will aid in the scope definition, design, and development of systems/subsystems to fulfill contract requirements. They will interact with individuals in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, Field Engineering and Commissioning of the systems being designed.
Responsibilities
- Plays a role in scope definition and design with primary responsibilities of PLC/DCS based control systems and instrument design per client requirements
- Performs all programming and integration of control systems as required
- Works in close cooperation with other team/project leaders to develop cost, schedule and performance requirements for projects
- Interfaces with clients, vendors, construction administrators and project team
- Performs and documents technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team to produce the highest level of quality
- Completes control system design and specification as required
- Prioritizes tasks to achieve results within cost and schedule constraints.
- Adheres to all EAD's safety standards and practices
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- PE or commitment to obtain PE within first 24 months
- Proven experience in PLC logic and programming with Allen Bradley/Siemens/Schneider
- Proven experience in HMI or SCADA programming and configuration of various software packages (AVEVA, Rockwell, Siemens, etc.)
- Experience with Emerson Delta V, ABB System 800xA and BMS is a plus
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, ISA, UL, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to independently set priorities and organize work to meet project deadlines with minimal direction
- Capable and experienced in managing and performing technical projects in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated strong analytical and organizational abilities to make effective decisions in an expedient manner while maintaining high quality standards
- Ability to prioritize resources and establish protocols based upon needs
- Experience with MS Windows based operating systems and applications
- Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license
Preferred Certifications and skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline
- Five years of service with the military, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Five years of experience working in controls automation, including design, maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC/DCS based control systems
- Control panel design experience is a plus
Working Conditions:
- Office, plant, or client site environment*
- Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
- May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*
- Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*
- Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work, as needed
- Travel required
